CO2 Capture
Low-cost MOF for carbon capture demonstrated at ton-scale
Summary
A cost-effective MOF adsorbent synthesised via a mixed-metal strategy under ambient conditions, enabling fast, scalable production from readily available chemicals. The material has been scaled up to 0.5-1 ton, readily pelletized, and shows high CO2 capacity, fast kinetics, good CO2/N2 selectivity, and tolerance to flue gas impurities.
What makes this novel compared to best-in-class technology?
Low-cost ambient synthesis from commodity chemicals via a mixed-metal strategy; among the few MOF adsorbents validated at pilot scale on real waste-to-energy flue gas (TRL 6), combining high capacity, fast kinetics, impurity tolerance, and low regeneration energy.
Current TRL
4-6
Relevant for
Waste-to-energy incineration plants; natural gas combined cycle (NGCC) power plants; refineries and other industrial post-combustion flue gas sources
