Overview
Supporting the development and deployment of scalable low-carbon solutions for Singapore.
Singapore launched the S$800 million RIE2030 Decarbonisation Grand Challenge (DGC) to accelerate the development and deployment of low-carbon technologies for the industry and power sectors.
As one of two Grand Challenges under the national RIE2030 plan, the DGC will support research, innovation and translation across technologies such as solar, hydrogen and its derivatives, energy efficiency, energy storage, carbon capture and utilisation, and grid modernisation. These efforts will contribute towards Singapore’s climate targets of reducing greenhouse-gas emissions to 45–50 MtCO₂e by 2035 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
The DGC will support the full innovation journey, from laboratory research on emerging technologies to testbedding and piloting of more mature solutions.
Through the DGC, Singapore aims to accelerate the development and commercialisation of scalable decarbonisation solutions while strengthening the flexibility, reliability and resilience of its power system.
